This series is titled “TIME & TIME AGAIN”.
Consisting of seven black & white pieces drawn on thick white card-stock with textured edges, displayed in quality black frames specifically in a way that the paper looks floating in the frame, giving emphasis to the texture & process of each individual drawing. In this series HIIMSAM, wanted to drive inspiration from the most iconic paintings in history, subconsciously ingrained in us. Giving credit to those that came before & inspired the masses throughout history. Drawing the energy from these Artist & studying the messages behind these works & why they are so iconic to find an understanding into why they have so much impact & weight that has paved the way. Taking this inspiration from these most iconic paintings in history HIIMSAM wanted to take these subconsciously ingrained artworks,(that many of us may know from the iconic imagery but not know why); & put them in a new perspective to lean on the ideal that if we are aware of our reality we can create a new way of existing, time and time again.
Painting #2
DIVINE WHISPERS.
Inspiration by the Son of the Man by Rene Magrite. The Son of the man is a surrealist piece that depicts a man whose identity is unknown, covered by an apple. Taking this theme of identity HIIMSAM wanted to expand on the ideal of how the divine directs us. Of how it directs our sense of identity to who we are meant to be through the subtleties around us. The 5 petal flower covering the mystery mans is a common theme in HIIMSAMs work representing how we are ever changing evolving beings, as the number 5 in numerology represents change.
Painting #1
EVERYTHING CONNECTS TO EVERYTHING ELSE.
Inspired from the the Vitruvian Man by Leonardo DaVinci. In this moment of reference in the mindset of Leo studying the ideal portions of a man and how it relates to geometry & interconnectedness of the universe within us, HIIMSAM relates this to her understanding of the universal laws of karma & balance. Conveying a message of how interconnected we are to all that exists
Painting #3
TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDE DOWN.
Inspired from the American Gothic by Grant Wood. The original concept is representing the sternness of rural america and how the association of farmers and their land go hand in hand. The first thing that stood out to HIIMSAM in this original is the sternness of the facial expressions of the characters, HIIMSAM wanted to brighten the sternness of the characters from the original, giving light to the inner world of these figures, representing that we are deeper than the surface level and there is a love there that may not always be outwardly expressed. Bringing light to us humans as deep intellectual divine beings.
Painting #4
THE WAITING GAME.
Inspired by the Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali HIIMSAM takes reference from The original concept of this piece. Which is a message of the bending/illusion of space and time, giving an eerie futuristic energy to the original piece. Going off this ideal of illusion , space and time and how it may be an unrealistic manner to view life. HIIMSAM wanted to play on the ideal that life is merely just an art of perception, giving emphasis to the quote “The waiting game where all you have to do is not wait” , giving weight to the concept that it's up to us individually to take hold of our destiny. The game of life is a merely just a waiting game for you to see through
Painting #5
EVOLUTION.
Inspired by the Birth of Venus by Sandro Bochelli. The original depicts the rebirth of the goddess of love and beauty. HIIMSAM wanted to go into the ideal of rebirth and evolve the concept to represent how we are eternal as beings. Leaning into the theory of how are constantly evolving time and time again as we navigate in the school of life.
Painting #6
DIVINE OPERATORS.
Inspired by Raphael's Angels in Sistine Madonna by Raphael. The original concept is the ideal that fate can not be changed. HIIMSAM wanted to create a visual representation to depict how the divine is operating at all times giving a persona to both angels one being the love and the other light. Representing that if we surrender to this divine source we may be brought to beautiful places.
Painting #7
CONNECT WITH SOURCE.
Inspired by the creation of Adam by Michelangelo. The original concept is of how God created the original first man. HIIMSAM wanted to expand on this ideal of human and the nature we born with. So by giving Adam a bear head HIIMSAM wanted to compare how connected we are to source and nature, that in a sense we are almost animal like as humans. As an human we are part of source so when we become aware & connect intentionally we may raise our consciousness to our higher self & be able to exist on the highest levels of our capacity.
